The new offering is designed to improve patient quality of life while significantly reducing hospital readmissions, and it continues Marquis\u2019 programming enhancements following the completion of a multi-million-dollar capital campaign to modernize the 97-bed facility.<\/p>\n<p>Traditionally, skilled nursing residents with end-stage renal disease (ESRD) have been transported to dialysis clinics for lengthy treatments three times weekly. Recently, the Centers for Medicare &amp; Medicaid Services approved portable dialysis to be administered in skilled nursing environments.<\/p>\n<p>Bedside hemodialysis eliminates the need to transport patients to treatment, lessening physical and emotional strain. It also allows for enhanced coordination between healthcare staff at New Eastwood and DaVita nurses. New Eastwood is the first skilled nursing facility in the Lehigh Valley area where DaVita is administering the service.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis treatment delivery option further enables us to improve the health and quality of life of our patients at New Eastwood living with end-stage renal disease \u2013 it\u2019s a real game changer,\u201d said Norman Rokeach, chief executive officer of Marquis Health Services. \u201cMarquis and DaVita have been active in the Lehigh Valley for many years, focused on the healthcare needs of the community. Our expanding partnership with DaVita will benefit our residents at New Eastwood.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe strive to deliver the highest quality care to our patients,\u201d said Dan Viaches, president, post-acute services. \u201cBy providing dialysis to patients in their place of residence, care coordination will improve significantly. This means reduced travel time, fewer missed treatments and potentially better clinical outcomes resulting in a better quality of life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In addition to bedside hemodialysis, recent programming enhancements at New Eastwood include a physician-led Cardio Pulmonary Care Program. Tailored for individuals with a range of diagnoses, the program focuses on promoting independence and quality of life through reducing symptoms and decreasing disability in heart and lung patients, while increasing their participation in physical and social activities.<\/p>\n<p>Located at 2125 Fairview Avenue, New Eastwood Rehabilitation &amp; Healthcare Center provides post-hospital care, short-term rehab and long-term residential care; it is adjacent to Easton Hospital. New Eastwood maintains a five-star rating from CMS.<\/p>\n<p>Marquis Health Services, the healthcare affiliate of\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.tryko.com\/\">Tryko Partners, LLC<\/a>, is a recognized leader in providing subacute rehabilitation and skilled nursing care.
