With monoclonal antibody therapy, physicians now have a way to help prevent severe symptoms from developing in patients who are at a high risk.<\/p>\n<h3>WHAT IS BAM TREATMENT?<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Monoclonal antibodies are<\/strong> laboratory made proteins that mimic the immune system\u2019s ability to fight off harmful pathogens.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Monoclonal antibody-based therapies<\/strong> have the greatest likelihood of having an impact in the earliest stages of infection before an effective immune response has been triggered.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The therapy is a one time dose<\/strong> of IV medication that should be administered as soon as possible after a confirmed diagnosis of COVID-19 and within 10 days of the first onset of symptoms.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>WHO CAN BENEFIT?<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Patients with mild to moderate<\/strong> COVID-19 who are at high risk for progressing to severe COVID-19 and\/or hospitalization.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Patient must not currently be hospitalized.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Patient must not currently<\/strong> require increased oxygen due to COVID infection.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Patient must be at high risk<\/strong> for progressing to severe COVID-19 and\/or hospitalization which is defined as age &gt;\/=65 yrs and those &lt;\/+ 55 years with underlying illnesses.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>WHY INPATIENT RECOVERY?<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>The elderly and\/or individuals with co-morbidities<\/strong> may be more impacted by Covid-19.
